Introduction
Welcome to the Audio Library of Wild Places, Wild Birds.
I began recording and editing North Carolina bird sounds in early 2017, and I am just starting to get the hang of when and when not to edit, how to edit, and how to improve the data included with each recording. Currently, I am using a Tascam DR-05 to record and AUDACITY software for editing. Samples are then uploaded to eBIrd and the Macaulay Library. As I collect improved samples, I will replace some of the poorer recordings and a few that include my voice. Unless otherwise noted, all recordings were made in North Carolina. In 2026, I plan to expand the Michigan Bird Sounds collection.

The Collection
The recordings are organized taxonomically, with some groups merged for which I have few files. Recording locations, hotspots mainly, are included with all but the oldest files. Time of day and environmental conditions will hopefully be added in the future. Some files are posted temporarily until I collect a better sample. Playback has not been used unless otherwise noted.
